Frequently Asked Questions about our Pottery Classes

Raku Workshop

Q: I've never taken a class before. What skill level do you need to have to take your classes?
A: With the exception of some of our advanced courses, no experience is necessary. Many students who take our workshops have never touched clay before. Because of our small class sizes, we are able to gear your learning to your level: keeping it straight forward or challenging you to try something more difficult. Should the class require some previous knowledge, it will be clearly stated in the description. To Classes Page

Q: How many people are in each class?
A: Most of our classes are restricted to 4-6 participants, to provide a better group dynamic and to fit comfortably in the studio. (Some of our summer workshops, held outdoors, can accomodate up to 10 students.) To Classes Page

Q: I am interested in one of the workshops listed, but can't attend during the scheduled time. Will you be offering it again?
A: We primarily offer classes in the winter months and during the month of August. The classes and workshops offered in the winter are usually offered again in the summer.
If neither of these times fit your schedule, please let us know and we will contact you should others be interested in a course being offered at an alternate date. At times we also have a waiting list, and can create a second workshop if there is sufficient interest.
Secondly, we are happy to set up a workshop or class at a mutually arranged time, should
you organize a group of 4 or more participants, yourself. ie. a group of friends or colleagues. Call us to discuss this option to be sure it fits for both of us. To Classes Page

Q: When do I pay for the course?
A: Course fees are due at time of registration. To Classes Page

Q: What if the class doesn't get enough registrants?
A: If there is insufficient registrations, the course will be cancelled or rescheduled. If the class is cancelled, registrants will have their course fee refunded. To Classes Page

Q: How old are the students that take your classes?
A: We've had everything from ages 16 to 80, participating in our adult classes and workshops. Age quickly becomes irrelevant in the pottery studio, as you begin to work with the clay.
We offer children's classes from time to time geared to children under 12, (accompanied by an adult), but for the most part our courses are geared to adults. To Classes Page
